24 Hours in Page, AZ? Check Out These 3 Sights

Last year, the little devil on my shoulder told me to go on an adventure, and the little angel on my shoulder told me to save my money. So I did both. In a 36 hour total round trip, I flew from Minneapolis to Las Vegas, rented a car, drove to Saint George, Utah to sleep for a few hours, drove to Page, Arizona for the day, and then drove back to Las Vegas to catch my flight home that night. I did it all without missing a minute of work.

If you’re looking for what to do during a day in Page, read on to discover the 3 places I split my time between.

1. Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon was the sole reason I booked the trip in the first place. Discovering the other amazing sights in Page was an added bonus.

In order to tour Antelope Canyon, you have to schedule a guided tour in either Upper or Lower Antelope Canyon. I opted for Lower Antelope Canyon with Ken’s Tours because the tour was a little cheaper, and it has less crowds than Upper Antelope Canyon.

I arrived for an 11:30am tour, which was prime time in the canyon. I learned that the best time to tour Antelope Canyon is at mid-day (11am-1pm) when the sun is highest, so you see optimal light beams. The tour was an hour long, and it was led by a phenomenal tour guide who shared fascinating knowledge and all the best photography angles.

After the tour, I ate lunch at the cafe on site before attempting a 15 minute car nap and heading off to my next location…

2. Glen Canyon Dam Overlook

Before the trip, I wasn’t able to find a lot of information on the Glen Canyon Dam, but I wanted to see it since it was only a few minutes drive away from Lower Antelope Canyon. Much to my surprise, it ended up being my favorite part of the trip.

Perhaps to some, there wouldn’t be as much to explore at this location. But when I arrived, two girls were coming back up to their cars and said, “Lucky! You’ll have the place to yourself!” as they passed me.

Sure enough, I did.

It was a surreal experience feeling so small in such a stunning place. I went off the path to climb some rocks and sit over the river. It was so peaceful and quiet- you could hear a pin drop. I probably spent less than an hour here, but I highly recommend stopping by on your trip. After bringing myself to leave the beautiful Glen Canyon, I headed to my final destination for the day…

3. Horseshoe Bend

I was so excited to learn that Horseshoe Bend was also in Page. I knew it was a popular destination, so it was the icing on the cake of my trip to Page. Horseshoe Bend is self-guided, and you’ll only have to pay for parking.

The hike to get there from the parking lot is a little over a half mile. Upon arrival, you’ll see a specified overlook area that has a railing guard. Most people, myself included, quickly ventured on from that area into the unguarded areas. As long as you’re careful and smart, it is unbelievably worth it!

I spent the afternoon at Horseshoe Bend, and stayed until sunset around 5pm. It is so easy to stare out at the majestic view and let time fly by. This sight was definitely the most populated of the three, understandably so. However, I didn’t run into any issues finding secluded places to sit or optimal angles for photos. The visitors were super willing to take photos for each other, which was awesome.

It was starting to get chilly as the sun was setting, so I headed back to my rental car so I could make the 4 and a half hour drive back to Las Vegas in time for my flight.

My trip to Page was life-changing for me, as it was the first time I tried solo travel. I would do it again in a heartbeat! I can’t wait to spend more time exploring out West, and hopefully I’ll get back to Page one day. I hope this helps you plan your exciting day in Page!
